Michael Kors History
Michael Kors began his climb as a fashion mogul at the age of 19 working as a merchandising and designing for the renowned boutique Lothar’s in New York City. The success of this line caught the attention of the fashion press, which inspired Kor to create his own fashion line. In 1981 the label Michael Kors was formed. Since established, it hasn’t strayed from Mr. Kors original vision: Chic, luxurious American sportswear.
In 2001, the Michael Kors label expanded, bringing accessories into the label. The addition included a full range of women’s handbags, belts, shoes and eyewear. In 2002 the company launched its Mens Collection as a response to the recognition of a capsule menswear line launched in 1997. The label has since grown to include swimwear, perfumes and colognes. The line also includes Michael Kors watch line which we review in great detail on this site.
The Labels boutiques can be found throughout the United States in New York City, Long Island, Palm Beach, Beverly Hills and Chicago. International stores include London and Milan, Seoul and Munich. In 2010 the Michael Kors K. K was formed in order to expand aggressively into the Japan Market.
